CarmenCarmen took up playing drums in the 7th grade. Later while attending John F. Kennedy High School in Paterson, NJ he joined the newly formed group “The Rendezvous”. The group consisted of Carmen, John Patios, Steve Neil, Phil Palucci and John Flemming. This group played numerous dances and parties as well as the well known “Palisades Amusement Park” in Cliffside Park, NJ. They appeared on television on Zacherly’s Disc-O-Teen and also performed at the Bitter End Café in New York City. Email: Carmen took up playing drums in the 7th grade. Later while attending John F. On opening night they backed up Screaming Jay Hawkins who performed his hit song “I Put a Spell on You”. The following week they backed up Johnny Maestro and the Crests on their first hit “16 Candles”. After graduating high school Carmen hooked up with fellow classmates Sal Alliotta, Claude DeSimone, Jim Casale (all formerly of the “Knaves”), and friends Gerry Gessie and Barry Staats and founded “Salt Water”. “Salt Water“ constantly performed throughout northern New Jersey as well as some of the top clubs on the Jersey Shore circuit and additionally the Greenwood Lake (NY/NJ) circuit. The NY side of Greenwood Lake was mobbed with a NY/NJ following because the drinking age in NY at the time was 18. Throughout the years Carmen has played on the same venue as the “Happenings”, The ” Turtles” and other noted bands from the 60’s era. After a 30 year hiatus, conversations with “DJ Frank” Galardi gave Carmen the urge and chance to once more pick up his sticks and he is now having a ball playing with “Toys in the Attic”, 60’s garage band style rock.
